Enhancing Mucosal microbiota transplant, clearing the gut mucosa prior to FMT

By the way all of this shows just how little we know about the human microbiome... A long way ahead.

Enhancing Mucosal microbiota transplant, clearing the gut mucosa prior to FMT

Any specific ways to clear/destroy the mucus membrane? Would a colon cleanse before FMT do it?

FMT Fecal Microbiota Transplantation Attenuates Frailty via Gut-Muscle Axis in Old Mice (Apr 2024)

I wonder if there is an impact on lifespan? It'd be nice if everyone could live to 105-110 thanks to FMT. :)

Blog The evidence and rationale supporting our stool donor criteria (2022, HumanMicrobes.org)

@Michael Harrop Have you searched for donors among the military? Soldiers need to be in pretty good shape and special forces operatives are selected for good health. As a slightly off topic note, I think one of the main issues with FMT is going to be money. FMT cannot be patented so there is...

    Gut microbiome and personality

@Michael Harrop I have high Neuroticism. Do you think I could significantly lower the level of this trait if I get a successful FMT of someone who is low on Neuroticism? Research shows there is a clear correlation between gut microbiome and Big Five personality traits. For example this 2024...

    Gut microbiome and intelligence

@Michael Harrop If there is a link between gut microbiome and intelligence, do you think there might also be a link between gut microbiome and creativity?

FMT Transplantation of gut microbiota derived from patients with schizophrenia induces schizophrenia-like behaviors and dysregulated brain transcript response in mice (Apr 2024)

In April-July 2015 at age 21 I had an untreated psychotic episode (not full blown schizophr which resulted in persistent concentration/focus issues as a consequence of which I have been unable to watch a single episode of a tv series on a single go... I went from being able to easily watch 8-10...

    Gut microbiome and personality

Has gut microbiome been linked to personality? In particular, I have a strongly unbalanced personality with very high Neuroticism and very low Extraversion... I wonder if getting an FMT from someone with a favorable Personality profile might reverse those tendencies? I'd like to turn into a...

Paul Froomes, AU My 21 year old autistic son’s response to fmt at Dr Froomes office in Melbourne (2019)

@Michael Harrop In one study core ASD symptoms were reduced by 49% after FMT and in another study the decrease in ASD symptoms was just 6-10%. Why do you think does such a discrepancy exist?

    Gut microbiome and intelligence

@Michael Harrop Very interesting. Did you experience a perceived increase or a decrease in intelligence? It might be interesting if someone actually did an FMT from a genius to see what it can do.

    Gut microbiome and intelligence

While searching the internet I came across one study. https://gutpathogens.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s13099-022-00487-z The study claims a link between gut bacteria and cognitive performance. Now, does it mean that by changing our gut microbiome we could potentially raise our IQ?

Thanks for replying @Michael Harrop . I am going to review the linked literature more thoroughly.

Paul Froomes, AU My 21 year old autistic son’s response to fmt at Dr Froomes office in Melbourne (2019)

For one thing, corelation does not always equal causation. It might be possible that autism causes those changes in gut microbiome and not the other way around. Autistics for example are picky eaters which does impact the microbiome. Are you sure that the relationship between gut microbiome and...
