Fermented foods and gut microbiome

What do studies show about that precise matter? Are fermented foods beneficial? If yes, to what degree?

I myself love eating kimchi and I'd like to know if it might have any positive effect on me besides immediate gustatory satisfaction.

It's quite difficult (and not fully studied) to determine and weigh all the pros & cons. And as with most things, it varies from person to person, so you'll have to experiment for yourself.
