This mystery show had INTERESTING INFORMATION in it about fecal transplants, and was JUST as thought-provoking as “Hack Your Health: Secrets of Your Gut” show, but instead of the DIY Fecal Transplant examples portrayed in “Hack… :Secrets of Your Gut”, this mystery show portrayed an example of a then-current “legitimate company”, (in some US city), collecting a stool sample/donation from a vetted-by-them healthy person, going into how it’s processed, and a couple of “transplant” recipients’ experiences from it, some very positive.
Yes, I know it’s JUST a show on Netflix or Prime, and might even appear to promote understanding of the link between the human microbiome and other organs and their functions (esp the brain) in ways that are very much NOT science-based or science-backed, BUT the show DID get one thinking about the fact that there IS a link there more significant than ever before thought.
At the beginning of the show, I remember them following a fit, healthy bicycle-riding guy bicycling through some downtown city to an office where he then donated his healthy stool sample. They then went into showing how they process the samples, freezing them as quickly as possible, then it’s off to the lab where the poop is scrutinized with strict quality-control measured, carefully analyzed for presence harmful or dangerous microorganisms, and eventally then processed into capsules (demand is always very high and they’re always short on product – the high demand is why many people are UNWISELY doing self-processed and -administered transplants) which are then distributed to healthcare centers through the US (just US? I think so) who then doo use (couldn’t resist) the product for human FMT procedures.
The first portrayed RECIPIENT in the show was a middle-aged woman, who was shown swallowing the capsules. After the transplant, she is shown explaining how the bowel movement that she’d had afterwards “just… glorious!” These are the tidbits I remember which hopefully prompt SOMEONE to remember what the name of this show was, and where it was streamed…
For, like… a year or so, I HAVE WANTED TO RECOMMEND THIS SHOW TO SEVERAL PEOPLE BUT FOR THE LIFE OF ME I CANNOT REMEMBER THE NAME, nor identify it - not even from reviewing my watch history… for some reason. Maybe it got erased… who knows.
Pretty sure it was on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. Perhaps there is a small chance it was from/on some other streaming service… PBS perhaps… chances are slim though.
Does ANYONE remember the name of this show???
THANKS SO MUCH
