Adding inulin to the fmt enemas made it at least over x20 times more effective for me + what supplements do you think (or tried) would be good to mix in as well? Enhancing

hello.

I've been using fmts from a personal donor for a while now, over three months or so, I gradually developed worsening mental fatigue and food intolerances among many other symptoms after an antibiotic round over a decade ago, my attention energy (how long i can stay focused on stuff before getting bored and tired) is pretty, pretty low (as in, used to be able to read a book in one go at best, now i can't get over 10 pages without taking frequent breaks) so I can tell well how much it improves.

fmts were far better than anything else i've tried before, but after adding a spoonful or two of inulin to the solution (not the inulin that tastes like cotton candy and turns into hard bits, the one that's more like a syrup, the cotton candy one doens't have the same effect for some reason) made me absorb so much more of it, still using the same amount and methods and everything, nothing else changed, it's no exaggeration to say it x100 the improvements, started taking me to entirely different energy levels each time, unlocking a lot more activities and active hours.

I thought i'd share this as it might help you, however, inulin works differently for each person and there're some people who're actually harmed by it ( i think if you've bacteria that shouldn't be increased, whether bad or good), and there could be unknown dangers in the method I've used, so please keep that in mind, and maybe take a small spoonful orally first as a test and definitely consult your doctor beforehand.

also, in relation to this experiment, what supplements have you tried mixing into an fmt (whether caps or enema) and worked great for you? or what do you think would work great?

I'd appreciate any and all contributions.

Interesting.
  • Have you taken the same inulin supplement orally prior to mixing it with the FMT?
  • Presumably, you did not try an inulin-only enema to test the individual effect?
Those two things would be required to determine that it's "inulin+FMT" that's having the beneficial impact, and the inulin is boosting the FMT.

I have never tried an inulin enema, but it's generally harmful for me when taken orally. I did take prebiotics orally with a dose of FMT, and it did not boost the FMT. It harmed me as it usually would.

hello.

- yes, before I started mixing inulin into the fmt enema, I'd administer the enema then after maybe 3-5 hours, I'd take a couple of spoonfuls of inulin orally, this also boosted the fmt's effectiveness by so many times compared to the days I didn't take any inulin with the fmt, I'd say taking it orally at least x5 the results, but taking it in the fmt itself was a whole different level.

- no, I didn't try that at all, but I did plan to, I'll update it here once I do.

I see, sorry to hear that, I think it's because a lot of your health problems started because of a spore-based probiotic that isn't meant for humans to have if I remember correctly right? so, theoritically, most of your problems would go away if you got rid of those bacteria right?

antibiotics are way too powerful for my weak microbioma so I avoid them at all costs, even with horrible infections, I take laxatives (super high doses of inulin, ik it's not good tho) to induce diarrhea, and kill the unwanted bacteria (tho it also unavoidably kills off a lot of the good ones) and it does work great for me, within a few days, all the infection symptoms would disappear. have you tried such methods aside from antibiotics? idk much, but if those bacteria are antibiotic-resistant, maybe then alternative methods like these (but much safer ones) would work for you?

yes, before I started mixing inulin into the fmt enema
No, I mean, completely separate from FMTs, you would need to experiment with inulin on its own for weeks, without doing FMTs. This way, you know how inulin alone impacts you.

It's probably more complicated than that.

I don't recall seeing anything supporting high-dose inulin as an antibiotic.
