hello. I'm posting this in hope anyone here has experiences that could help me, unfortunately, i've been stuck for nearly a whole year now on this particular matter, i could use anything and everything. my attention's all over the place so I apologize for the all over the place read.

so, i took an antibiotic well over a decade ago, and from there on i developed brain fog and mood swings that'd come and go depending on what i ate, it took years until i knew the cause was food intolerances, those symptoms disappeared in a day or two if I ate strictly aip and without coconut and some exceptions, however, these were short term, while there was a long term mental fatigue gradually worsening year after year, which the aip diet just kept from worsening but didn't heal. i never got these properly diagnosed, i couldn't get myself to care enough to explain it well to the doctor, i didn't have it in me, my explanations always came up short, and they didn't get much out of it to be able to help.

the only things that helped improve it were anything that increased gut bacteria, inulin most importantly before I could get fmt, I had the chance to do a couple of fresh fmts several years ago from a healthy young donor i personally knew, from just a single one, I went from emotionally flat, unsociable, drained and apathetic (where i'd spend all day playing videogames and watching films due to barely having any energy or focus, unable to get myself to care enough to do anything else much) to being decently sociable and i had energy to draw for hours everyday, also my immersion in things got over x100 times stronger, my emotions got so much stronger too, needless to say, the fmt was super powerful, my whole reality looked different the next day as if i was on high dose ritalin or something, everything was so much more interesting, like how it was years ago.

then i couldn't do fmts for a while, and things still needed a lot of room for improvement, all i had working well for me was inulin, and i messed up bigtime and started taking insane doses everyday (well over 200g) for a while, i was actually seeing results, it felt like before the inulin, i had for example ten hours of very low energy, taking the high amounts of inulin would cause diarrhea and kill off some bacteria and in turn, it felt like every next day, those ten hours would instead condense and condense into shorter hours but much more energetic and lively, i've got whole theories on why all of this happened but that's not the point now.

so, i was too taken by the good points the inulin was bringing to notice the damage it was also doing, it did make me have a lot more energy but i also lost a ton of attention to detail and a lot of interests, even my single minute used to have so much more thoughts in it, it's like it made my world so much smaller but at least what little i still cared about, i did so a lot more than before, important to mention too that because of the damage, my bacteria became too weak to live on their own or the mucus barrier to weak to keep them attached? but simply not taking any inulin at some point made me get worse and worse everyday, so, I experimented until i figured out a small amount i have to keep taking everyday or i'll keep getting worse, i'm dependent on it now, as i increase my bacteria more and more (measured by how much mental energy i have), i don't need so much of it anymore, i didn't need any of it when i had the bacteria from the first couple of powerful fmts.

taking inulin wasnt the way to go, all i needed to do was take more fmts but i really couldn't at that time, so, the inulin overuse lasted for well over a year, so when the opportunity to use fmts again presented itself, from another donor i also personally knew, who was actually much healthier and older than the previous one but still in 20s, and the methods and everything was secure, one fresh fmt too, but my body just wouldn't absorb it the same way, fmt went from being something completely transformative to just a tiny probiotic boost, it went from doubling my energy over x20 times (but then all the improvement got reversed from inulin overuse + accidental inflammation) to increasing maybe by 10%. btw recent fmts with a gram of inulin are so much more effective than without it for me.

I don't have a lot of energy or focus to read through many research papers and forums and whatnot, so, recently i started relying a lot on chatgpt for this unfortunately (ik but i take it with grains of salt and double-check), and having told it everything, it said all of this is likeliest because of mucus layer damage, inulin kept stripping the mucus and flushing it out, and without it, bacteria can't stick, so I hopped on continuous dosing amino acids supplementation throughout the day, with zinc carosine, and butyrate, stool improved so much in two weeks, went from patchy, green, and deformed, to cohesive and shiny but still very green and no smell, based on the signs, i read that this means i've healed quite a bit and bacteria niches have started opening up, which them being shut down is presumed to be why i couldn't absorb fmt as well anymore so I was hoping now i'll absorb it so much more, but sadly no, i took a mini frozen one in after single rapid thaw, which i'm used to taking, from that same second donor, and ik how powerful it's typically is, i can't tell any difference from before the mucus layer healing program honestly. i absorb probiotics really well, and kombucha too, it's a mystery why i can't absorb what's so much more richer in bacteria than those.

I can't think of anything else I did that was damaging anywhere near the scale of inulin, and I've experimented for years with all kinds of things, nothing worked even 1% as well, only fmt can heal me, but only if i can absorb it again like before. if there're any reasons you might think is behind all this, please let me know.

if anyone's well-informed or experienced in what's happening, I'd deeply appreciate any contribution, any explanations, things i might have forgotten or overlooked, misinformed about, anything. thanks for taking the time to read this, I appreciate it.
 
This is an interesting thread so thought I'd add my experience with inulin. I started taking it as a component of some nut bars I was eating and at first it worked GREAT, my stools totally regulated for a couple weeks, but then they went right back to loose and unpredictable so I stopped. I don't have any science to explain why it worked like that, but that was my experience.
