FMT Donor-derived microbial engraftment and gut microbiota shifts associated with weight loss following fecal microbiota transplantation (Jun 2025, n=23) "52% achieved weight loss of more than 5% from baseline. Average weight loss of 8kg/18lbs"

...study. 52% achieved weight loss of more than 5% from baseline. Average weight loss of 8kg (18 lbs). Nonresponders lost 3kg. Contrary to some other studies, they found engraftment to correlate with success. Donors: But they couldn't figure out what donor characteristics were responsible.

FMT Dynamics of Gut Microbiota after Fecal Microbiota Transplantation in Ulcerative Colitis: Success Linked to Control of Prevotellaceae (Sep 2024, n=24) "Nine patients (38%) reached remission at week 14. The donor with the least engraftment was the most successful"

...and "worse" are only mentioned once, in the abstract. It appears to be a follow-up to this study: Fecal Microbiota Transplantation engraftment after budesonide or placebo in patients with active ulcerative colitis using pre-selected donors: a randomized pilot study (Apr 2024, n=24)...

    Enhancing FMT engraftment

Do we know what is the average engraftment/success rate of FMT and what are the possible factors increasing it's efficiacy?

Also interesting, is using multiple routes of delivery helps engraftment as well. I encourage you to read the article and check out the graphs...
