Where to get a stool donor for FMT or how to find one? Donors

Hi, I have severe IBS with chronic constipation since 2005. Nothing has helped me. I want to get a fecal transplant but Kaiser hospital doesn’t do it. I’m wondering where I can have it done and how can I find a donor? I tried looking on this website but couldn’t find the same question as mines but I imagine people have asked. Your help will be very much appreciated. Thanks

If you don't mind me asking, how were you able to try it? Is your biome good now? I'm asking because obviously if it were, I'd want to drive to meet you and try it myself. (Or fly. If you're actually in San Fran I have some cousins there I could stay with). But anyways that's my main problem is that I don't have anyone I could ask to try this. I mean, like Michael has mentioned, there isn't really a safe way to do it right now, but I'm just asking because I'm curious (and desperate). Don't worry either of you, I'm not going to do anything aside from ask questions for now.

In short, nothing that traveling to San Francisco would help you with. One FMT was from OpenBiome, one donor (2 FMTs) was from Human Microbes, and two donors were from Gezonde Darmflora.

OpenBiome, which was by far the most effective of those four, has been out of operation for several years now, and has been effectively replaced by the Microbiota Therapeutics Program at University of Minnesota (https://microbiota-therapeutics.umn.edu/). I have no way to know that the MTP is of similar quality to OpenBiome. We all know what happened to Human Microbes. And Gezonde Darmflora is in the Netherlands, so again, no benefit whatsoever there to being in SF.

In the mean time I've done a saliva transplant, and that WAS from a local donor I found who lives in SF. That was significantly more effective than either HM OR GD, and has started to approach OpenBiome. However it seems that donor wasn't fully optimal, and I'm not even sure he's open to donating for others, so again you are better off looking for people where you are if you want to try that. And assuming you want to stick with stool, I wouldn't have anyone local to provide you with even if you moved here.

What happened? Is it shut down because of the FDA?
There's a summary here: https://forum.humanmicrobiome.info/threads/the-fda-and-fmt-regulation-part-2-jul-2024-humanmicrobes-org-i-met-wit.520/#post-1370

In the US, an IND is required. Physicians can do single-patient INDs. It is a worldwide project, but I've paused all sales because I was unable to find an affordable lawyer to advise me, and because it's not worth the effort for low-volume sales.

I have had IBS with both constipation and diarrhea. It wasn't until I investigated making my own yougurt and in the process discovered making my own milk keifer. It's less involved - super easy to do. All of this to say that I no longer experience the symptoms of IBS. I do focus on eating whole foods, not processed but when I had severe IBS symptoms it didn't matter what I ate. Research it on YT - short videos of how and the benefits go beyond helping with digestive issues.

P.S. I joined this group because I developed C-diff after taking Clindamycin and looked into FMT which didn't materialize so my doctor prescribed Vowst which worked.
